Space Settlers is a real-time strategy sci-fi game for the iOS platform made by Digiarty aka iPhogame. Within this GUI-rich game, gamers can build their own space base and research any technologies in their tech center, and create resources like Crystal, Tritium and Dark Energy, and you can also build a chariot to destroy any other planets.
This is my review:
On a first note, I noticed when I was purchasing certain features in the game that I actually was charged on my iTunes account, even though the game was free. The first charge was $4.99, which in the receipt of the iTunes email I received was for “75 Crystals of Dark Energy”. So basically it’s one of those games that is only free to a certain extent, be very careful with playing the game if you are money-wise, remove the CC of your iTunes account to avoid being charged.
This is not an easy to understand game at first, but it is, visually, a nice looking game that is very sharp, and includes graphics that are engaging, and the building structure models are very detailed with each part being in pretty good order. The title of the game in the image at the top will obviously remind you of Starcraft if you have played the game before on the PC or Mac, the name isn’t the same but the font definitely looks very similar.
Though for this to be a strategy game, Space Settlers could be disappointing to some users, even for the most hardcore gamers out there. It’s quite complex for newbs while it could be easy for gamers in the more hard-core amount of experience from playing games frequently. Within the game, the gameplay is pretty different from the troop-training games and you actually will have to build Chariots to gain your ultimate goal of attacking anything.
Space Settlers may just be a space building game if you like, and it’s own title displays it as a game that could be reminiscent of The Setters Online. The game generally is a tower defense game and your main goal is to destroy the planet’s buildings and main resources. On the other side, you can also build your own space units with your tech center, military center and also from your factories, which is to either meet a more bold requirement to build different Chariots, or to earn more resources to build more buildings or upgrade them. On a side note, you may need to go to your Planet Port to look for your enemy Port to attack, specifically to finish your missions. And this may be the biggest goal of the game itself. Battling in Space Settlers is not totally controlled, and once your Chariots have gone into the war, you will be pretty much completely vulnerable. Though there is also an option to take your men out of the battlefield or to even repair a Chariot, which is pretty much a boring experience.
IF you are not into strategy games, Space Settlers is pretty much a game you will not like. But if you like strategy games like Starcraft for the PC, Clash of Clans for iOS, or even Light of Nova for the iOS, this game may be worth a shot to check out. Eventually though, it is not as addicting of Clash of Clans.
Here is a video review of Space Settlers for iOS, made by someone else as I do not have a camera to film a review of anything, hope you enjoy it and it was the top hit in Youtube:
